Van Damn LIVERPOOL DEBUT
Jordan “Van Damn” Van Wyness is rapidly becoming one of Scotland’s hottest exports from one of its least likely sources. Hailing from the small fishing town of Arbroath, Van Damn has helped spearhead some of Scotland’s most renowned parties over the last decade. His “All Good” club brand has welcomed the biggest names in global dance music, giving him a platform to support the likes of Skream, Ben Hemsley, Patrick Topping, Ewan McVicar, LF System, Peggy Gou and Groove Armada.
Alongside his successful promotional enterprises, Van Damn has carved his own path in the electronic music space which has seen him added to some of the most prolific festival line ups in Scotland and the UK including FLY Festival, Otherlands, Outdores as well as Sneaky Petes, Unit 51 and the iconic Sub Club.
During lockdown, Van Damn came to the realisation that he had a unique opportunity to promote his own productions and DJ talent. Through a relatively untouched avenue, he started the “All Good” twitch channel and hosted live DJ streams in front of a green screen or a spare room in his house every Friday night and through this Van Damn gained a whole host of avid followers. With the infusion of incredible tune selection, out-there visuals mixed with his proper Scottish ‘patter’, Van Damn found himself as the Friday night hotspot across TV / Computer screens in many households, quickly becoming the hub of social activity each weekend for the hundreds who tuned in. His creativity didn’t end there and not long into lockdown, he became co-founder and host of his very own Podcast, The Back2Back Podcast, which features interviews with Hannah Laing, LF System, BLK, t e s t p r e s s, Ewan McVicar + more.
Thanks to his quick thinking and ingenuity, Van Damn had the ability to keep people entertained throughout a challenging period. Alongside this, he spent time over lockdown honing in on his budding production skills which caught the attention of Radio 1’s Jaguar and Sarah Story, resulting in multiple plays on Radio 1 and some of his productions also featuring in Ewan McVicar’s Radio 1 residency. 2023 saw his most recognisable track to date; ‘Can’t Grumble’ released on Jaguar’s ‘Utopia’ label. Following this came multiple releases such as ‘We Can’, ‘No Sleep’ and ‘Blame It on The bassline” via Fatboy Slim’s label ‘Southern Fried’ as well as a forthcoming collaboration with Ben Hemsley in the works.
After lockdown, he emerged back into the club scene as one of the most in demand acts across the country,. Having been added to line ups such as Radio 1’s Big Weekend, Cultivate, SWG3 +more, his presence in the UK club scene is ever growing.
His natural blend of genuine charisma and his ability to light up whatever room he walks into, partnered with a real solid understanding of DJing and music production made Van Damn one of the most unique and hottest talents to come out of Scotland’s famous nightlife scene in years. It’s clear one of Scotland’s favourite DJs is fast becoming one of the world’s ones to watch.
